ANTHONY WILLIAM WALLACE
Anthony William Wallace is a Canadian Screen Music Award-winning composer and sound artist working across film, television, recorded music, and installation. His music moves between orchestral composition, electronic production, field recording, and experimental sound, with a particular interest in the relationship between sound, landscape, and storytelling.
Wallace has composed music for more than thirty film and television projects. Recent work includes original music for the series Heated Rivalry (Crave/HBO), released through Sony Music, Milan Records and Masterworks. His orchestral practice includes writing, arranging, and conducting for large ensembles, including …And the Lord Hath Taken Away with The Holy Gasp, recorded with a 45-piece orchestra, choir, and band.
Alongside his screen and recorded music, Wallace creates site-specific sound works and installations that extend composition beyond the studio. His practice incorporates field recording, environmental sound, custom-built instruments, found objects, and playable virtual instruments developed from sounds recorded in the field. These works often explore ways that wind, water, weather, resonance, and the acoustic properties of a place can participate directly in the creation of music.
His installation and interdisciplinary work has been presented across Canada, including projects developed through extended periods in remote landscapes. His ongoing project Imaginary Landscapes brings together location recording, site-specific performance, environmental instruments, composition, moving image, and installation to explore music created by, with, and within landscape.
Wallace holds an Honours Bachelor of Music in Composition from York University and has participated in programs and residencies through the Canadian Film Centre, Banff Centre, and Canadian Wilderness Artist Residency.
