EXPERIMENTAL LAKES
(Short Film 30min)
A poetic rumination on the grit and labour that goes into accumulating scientific data,
Experimental Lakes is a short film that follows two evolutionary scientists as they undertake a
30 year study to examine humanity’s unintentional impacts on the evolution of wild fish.
Follow the scientists for the first two weeks of their study as they journey through the beautiful and remote “Experimental Lakes Area” - a research facility
comprised of hundreds of isolated lakes in Northern Ontario. Combining stunning imagery and a captivating score,
the film explores our attempts to understand the world around us and the sheer physical labour of the pursuit of scientific knowledge.
